    Art Club     Advisor: Mr. Zapor

Art Club is a group of students who share a common interest in art. Art Club promotes creativity, community, and art production. During meetings we create projects that are beyond what you would create in a regular art class ranging from pumpkin carving to community murals. Additionally, we ask art professionals to attend some meetings to discuss their careers. Past speakers include a Tattoo Artist, TV Makeup Artist, and a Textile Designer. Art Club provides activities for students of all levels of interests and abilities. You do not have to have any prior art experience to join the Art Club. Art Club meets every other week throughout the school year in the Art Room.

FIRST Robotics (a joint team with neighboring schools)     Mr. K. Russell, Mentor - FRC #2959 CW Tech Robotarians     www.robotarians.org

FRC team 2959, CW Tech Robotarians had a great season this year, with our high place finishes in all qualification rounds at all events, Industrial Design awards at district events, captain of alliance at district events and being picked for an alliance at MI State Championship. To top it off, we traveled to Houston TX for the FIRST Championship and competed on the Johnson field. We did well again in qualifications, placing 16th out of the 74 teams on our field. Unfortunately, we weren't selected by an alliance to compete in the elimination rounds, but we cheered on our field winner as they competed against the other 7 fields for the Championship title.

The Coloma students, who traveled, got the opportunity to talk about their FIRST Championship experience today live on WSBT TV:

We're proud of all the students and how much they achieved this year. It was extra special to get to go back to FIRST Championship (the team's 5th time) and have the students get that experience.  It's wonderful meeting teams from all around the world and sharing their enthusiasm for a common interest in the robotics sport!
In addition, students got the opportunity to interact with college representatives, industry professionals, and were exposed to many other future career possibilities.  The team also fit in a trip to the Johnson Space Center.

We wish the best to the new team alumni, whether they be graduating or returning home from a year abroad, as they venture forth.

Thank you for all the support from the school this past year and we look forward to continuing to offer this opportunity to all students next year.
    Sincerely,
    Kevin Russell
